Match research access to the way your team works

Different collaborators need different capabilities. Tetra provides roles and permissions for managing research, sharing and exporting material, using AI, and administering the workspace.

Set up roles around real responsibilities: who organizes studies, who contributes research, and who reviews the results. Review the role choices available on your plan before inviting a larger team.

Manage capabilities and workspace membership

Assign roles

Use the roles available on your plan to define what each workspace member can do.

Control actions

Configure supported permissions for activities such as managing research, sharing, exporting, and using AI. Custom roles depend on your plan.

Review administration

Manage members and teams, and use the audit log where available to inspect recorded account activity.

Review shared-link access alongside workspace roles

Workspace roles govern what members can do. A shared link also has an audience setting: teammates only, password protected, or public. When preparing a finding for stakeholders, check both who can share it and who should be able to open the link. These are two complementary decisions: member capabilities and the audience for shared material.

Only Harbor teammates can open the link.

Alex cannot share the finding. A broader link audience does not grant sharing permission.

Fictional case: member capabilities and link audiences are separate decisions.

Prepare access for a new research team

  1. List the tasks each person needs to perform. Separate research creation, stakeholder review, and workspace administration.
  2. Choose or configure suitable roles and assign members. Review project access and sharing settings alongside those role permissions.
  3. Revisit access when responsibilities change. Review externally shared material separately from internal membership.

Questions before you start

Are custom roles available on every plan?
No. Standard roles and custom-role availability vary by plan. The pricing section lists the role options for each subscription.
Does a role replace share-link settings?
No. Workspace permissions and access through a share link address different situations. Check both when deciding who should be able to review research material.
